Since 1983, the UAB Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has also been home to the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center (NSCISC). As the hub of the Model Spinal Cord Injury Systems network, the Statistical Center supports and directs the collection, management and analysis of the world’s largest spinal cord injury database. The database is used by professionals to conduct research. Many of the research findings have significantly improved the delivery and nature of medical rehabilitation services provided to patients with spinal cord injury.
